Titanium is a super-light, durable, stable metal ideal for spectacle frames. It is also corrosion-resistant, making it perfect for individuals living near saltwater or with sensitive skin.
Its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio is its main claim to fame as a glasses frame material. Titanium is nearly half as light as steel but just as strong.
Frames made in this material are both durable and lightweight; sturdy enough to withstand the wear and tear of daily use and too light to cause discomfort in everyday use.
Lightweight and flexible, titanium frames are renowned for their exceptional comfort in everyday wear. They can flex easily without the metal degrading, so they are more adaptable to differing face shapes and sizes.
A standout feature of titanium is its corrosion resistance. Many metals can corrode when exposed to water, sweat, or skin oils, but titanium suffers no such damage. A hypoallergenic material like titanium is unlikely to cause skin irritation.
As well as all these functional benefits, titanium frames have a very high aesthetic appeal. The sleek, modern look sets the eyewear apart from other materials and can retain its appearance as good as new even after many years of use. Their clean lines have a timeless appeal that never goes out of fashion.
Titanium is expensive compared to other frame materials. Some frame designers use titanium alloys to combat the costs. These metals include copper and nickel, which alter the material's properties in different ways.
Despite all these advantages, titanium frames can still break, which is probably why you are visiting this site.
Titanium is often used in metallic alloys as a substitute for aluminium because of its strength, light weight, and heat and corrosion resistance. It is the material of choice for heart valves, pacemakers, dental implants, artificial hips and joints. And, of course, eyewear frames.
The process of repairing titanium frames is not straightforward. It can't be soldered like a traditional frame. Ultra-modern laser technology is required to weld and bond this remarkable material.
AlphaOmega has invested in the latest technology and is now a titanium frame repair specialist. Our glasses repair workshops have the equipment and expertise to tackle all types of titanium spectacle repairs.
Posted my titanium framed glasses to hopefully reweld my bridge piece to the frame and straighten out the distortion after the glasses were trodden on. Posted on 22/11/2022 and returned on the 24/11/2022. Really impressed with the service – well done. The glasses are perfect now after your good work.
I was told by my opticians that, because the screw thread holding the lens in on my titanium frames had worn, the frames were not able to hold the lens in any longer. They suggested I get a new pair of frames and that they would give me a discount of 15% on the new frames. I sent the titanium frames to ALPHAOMEGA and they re-threaded the screw thread. The titanium frames are now as good as new. I will always approach ALPHAOMEGA now with any repair jobs to spectacle frames.
I posted my titanium frames with a broken arm on Wednesday afternoon at 4pm and Friday morning, 36 hours later, I received a package from AlphaOmega. It never occurred to me that they could have been returned so quickly so I opened the box with confusion, having no idea what they could possibly have sent me! For the price and results I think that this is one of the best companies that I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with.
Absolutely fantastic – two days from quote to repair to return. I thought that you'd be unable to mend such a tiny thin frame – with a diameter no bigger than a pin-head – but you did. You did it cheaply, quickly and with complete professionalism; it's perfect. Thank you. My optician wanted to charge £300 for a replacement frame that was in itself a replacement frame, having broken once already all, of course, just weeks out of warranty.
